Brian Kaplan
Singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, educator
Award-winning singer-songwriter and recording artist Brian Kaplan was born in New York City and spent his formative years on Long Island. Since 1998, he has made his home in New York's Capital Region where he has established himself as a notable performer and educator. Brian has fronted his genre-bending original project, the Brian Kaplan Band since 2001. Brian’s recorded music has also made its way onto the playlists of some of the most prominent regional radio stations. He is about to celebrate the release of his newest album of original music, "Make No Mistake," in the Spring of 2020.
As a sideman, Brian has performed on a diverse array of instruments in some of the hottest bands in the Northeast, including Conehead Buddha, Soul Session featuring Garland Nelson, New York Players, City Rhythm, Keith Pray’s Big Soul Ensemble, and Rainbow Trout. A staple on the Northeast club and festival music scene, Brian’s various projects have opened for or shared the stage with such monster acts as BB King, Blink-182, Guster, Widespread Panic, Blues Traveler, Eddie Money, Ben Harper, Jimmy Cliff, Rusted Root, Jerry Garcia Band, Barenaked Ladies, Boys II Men, Bootsy Collins, Black 47, Moe., Antigone Rising, and Salt ‘N’ Peppa
Brian has taught privately and in the public school system for the past 15 years as a jazz educator, band director, composer, arranger, music technology, and classroom music teacher. He has been a featured guest conductor in the New York All-County festival circuit. In the age of modern digital technology, Brian has embraced social media and online learning to offer his years of education and experience to students.
